challenge yourself

As humans we get so comfortable with every day routines, they just become natural.  Have you ever been driving home, and notice you aren’t paying attention to where you are going, as if you are on autopilot?  You no longer have to challenge your mind and learn new ways or lifestyles.

Even more shocking, is how uncomfortable we as individuals are with change.  I for one am being honest when I say, I get a bit anxious when I’m in a new environment that I have never been in.  Although I know I am a smart girl, traveling alone still causes me some anxiety even after traveling both nationally and internationally in my 27+ years.

To help put my mind at ease, I have done a bit of research on the train and bus systems for my first stop in Paris 🙂  From there, I have just studied each countries map to make sure I have a general understanding of where I am and how I can locate transportation or general attractions.  I’m lucky enough to know that I have internet and will be able to research directions when needed.

Only a few weeks away, I am so excited for my upcoming trip and everything I will learn while there.  Going to countries I have never been to, strangers speaking in a language that I only know a few words of is scary but also so invigorating.  I look forward to challenging my mind and stepping outside of my normal weekly routine.  The overwhelming desire to experience new landscapes, food, languages and cultures is something I have always desired and aspire to do throughout my lifetime.

I am so fortunate to be able to do this and hope others are as fortunate to experience all that the world has to offer.  If you have read any of my previous posts, you know I love materials (clothes, furniture, etc.), but if you have the chance to save for experiences such as this, take the opportunity and run with it.  This trip is a trip of a lifetime.

Here’s to challenging our minds and continuing to grow.
